PHILOMA GIANT SCHNAUZERS
We are Kevin and Sandie Cullen, breeders and exhibitors of Giant Schnauzers based in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex.
Our involvement with the breed spans many years, during which we have focused on producing dogs that are healthy, true to type and capable of competing successfully at the highest levels. We have been named as the Top Kennel in the breed consistently for the last 10 years.
Philoma is best recognised as the home of Ch. Jafrak Philippe Olivier “Phil”, who went on to win Best in Show at Crufts in 2008. That result remains the most high-profile success for both our kennel and the breed itself on the international stage.
Since then, a number of Philoma dogs have achieved championship titles and major wins. Among them are Ch. Sir Constantine De Barba Negra at Philoma (current Top Dog in Giants for 2025), Ch. Philoma One Night Only, Ch. Philoma Ghetto Calipso, Ch. Philoma Pay Back Time For Barnsdale SHCM SHCEX VW, and Ch. Philoma Lana Lang.
In 2025, our dogs took Challenge Certificates and Best of Breed awards at leading championship shows including Leeds, Darlington, Richmond, Driffield, LKA, Bath, and more.
Philoma dogs have consistently appeared in the UK breed rankings, gaining positions such as Top Dog, Top Puppy, Top Breeder, Top Stud and Top Brood. This year, our Ch. Sir Constantine De Barba Negra at Philoma achieved the fantastic result of being named Schnauzer of the Year for 2024. These results reflect the strength and consistency of our breeding programme.
While the show ring is an important part of what we do, our dogs live as part of our household. Breeding decisions are always made with health, temperament and breed type in mind, with the aim of ensuring that every Philoma Giant Schnauzer represents the qualities that make the breed distinctive.
Our aim remains the same today as it was at the beginning: to preserve and promote the Giant Schnauzer, and to contribute to the breed’s future in the UK and beyond.
